Thats correct too, as Hammond states "At the end of the Bronze a residue of Greek tribes stayed behind in Macedonia, one of these., the Makedones, occupied Aegae and expanded into the coastal plane of Macedonia" As Borza continues "The highlanders or makedones of the mountainous regions of western macedonia are derived from north western Greek stock. They were akin both to those who at an earlier time migrated south to become the historic Dorians, that is we may say that north west Greece provided a pool of speakers of proto-Greek" Of course Macedonians had a strong feeling of constituting a separate ethnic (tribal) group. But that was common amongst all Greek tribes.
Pred 20 minutamiBlack Tengu
Correct again. Koine Greek is the dialect of Greek the Greeks speak today. Ana Panaiotou is correct. Alexander the Great "in a state of anger called the guards in the Macedonian manner" ( Makedonisti ). Here the term <<μακεδονιστι>>.. refers to the native Macedonian dialect, this was common in other Greek tribes turning into their native dialects when they needed express emotional charge. For example Athenians would resort to their native dialect of Attikisti . the Boeotians to Boetisti and the Spartans in Laconisti .

Yes, Karagatsis was technically correct, The Hellenodikai (The Greek judges) could not accept the Macedonians as being "legally Greek" since they were a feudal monarchy. The legality of being called 'Greek' was subject to being a democratic Republic which the Macedonians were not - they were a feudal monarchy. So the Hellenodikai judged the Macedonians on racial grounds (language, blood, ancestry, culture/religion), and they ruled that the Macedonians were racially of Greek stock, but fell short of declaring them as being legally Greek because they were a feudal monarchy and not a democratic Republic.

Michigan's upper Peninsula where I'm from literally has the largest population of finish people in the US. I tell people I'm from michigan and there like can you drink the water?? Have you ever been robbed in Detroit!?!... that's not the part of michigan I'm from. I'm from the upper Peninsula. The part most of the world still thinks according to maps is part of canada or just not there and is just water. Plus people are like I didnt think there where people there... all I'm saying is the upper Peninsula is a very clean place to live and beautiful scenery year around. I will say though if you dont like winter. Ummm you might want to wait until summer to visit..😂🤷♂️ Also in the UP we have somthing like a 3rd of the land mass of all of Michigan and only like 3 percent of the population of the state. Home to alot more packer fans than lions. The upper and lower Peninsulas are completely different worlds. Oh but we still dont like Ohio and Illinois.

ANA PANAIOTU Ana Panaiotou, for example, in the article 'The Language of Captions in Macedonia', says that "the Macedonians communicated among themselves in the Koine (common) language; the use of the Macedonian dialect was shrinking and became limited to conversations within a family or within small tribal circles. The last extant records on the Macedonian dialect," Panaiotou continues, "date from the first century BC" This author also informs us that the oldest facts on the Macedonian language date from the fifth century BC With the arrival of Alexander the Great that language stopped being the means of communication. "People used this language," Panaiotou says, "at moments of anger or great excitement and when only Macedonians were present" (p. 187). To support her statement, Ana Panaiotou turns to Plutarch, who claims that while killing Cleitus, at a moment of great distress, Alexander the Great "cried out in the Macedonian language" (Plutarch, Vii parallili, chapter 'Alexander the Great' - eighth installment in the periodical Ilios, 20th March 1954). Ana Panaiotou also draws attention to the example of Eumenes, an officer in Alexander's army. He himself was not Macedonian, but once, after an illness, when walking among his Macedonian soldiers, he greeted them in the Macedonian language. She also mentions that Queen Cleopatra had lessons in Macedonian.

More than 6000 inscriptions have been found in Macedonia and more than 99.5% of them are written in Attic "koine" the lingua franca of the Hellenistic world

Yes Ana Panaiotou is correct again, we know, Cleopatra spoke "Makedonisti", the Macedonian dialect. Which was of course the Macedonian dialect of Greek.

@Sun’s children No, Makedonisti (μακεδονιστι) means speaking in the 'Macedonian way', meaning speaking in the Macedonian dialect, like Attikisti, meant speaking in the Athenian dialect, or Boetisti The Boeotian dialect, or Laconisti, the Spartan dialect. But how would you know this? You don't speak Greek to understand what "Makedonisti" means.
Pred 27 minutamiSun’s children
@Black Tengu Buhahaha don’t try to relativise and turn it over now, no dialect but different language, Makedonist(i) is a current Macedonian word btw

Also a great friend of The Netherlands was Japan. We've had a trade agreement with them for over 400 years without any breaks in between. We were the only country to be allowed to visit when Japan closed the country. There was some strife during WW2 due to Japan removing Dutch rule over (now) Indonesia because of their oil industry which was vital for Japan's war effort. But we cool now.

PROF. PHOTIS PETSAS Similarly ancient Macedonian historians and writers, though writing in the common language (a blend of ancient Greek and the local Macedonian when signing their names always added that they were Macedonian language); as, for example: Chrisogonis from Edessa, a Macedonian; Adaios the Macedonian; Antipatris the Macedonian. (Prof Photis Petsas: A Journey in *Northern Greece, Elinikos voras*, February 1976). Not one of them wrote that he was a Hellene. Now, back to the name of Macedonia. Looking at Ilios, a Greek encyclopedia periodical, on page 801 we find the chapter entitled 'The History of Macedonia'. Its third Paragraph begins with the words: "The Macedonians or Macedons inhabited this territory and called it Macedonia...," which confirms that before the arrival of the Macedonians the territory had had other names (Imatia, Aeordea, Almopia and perhaps others) and that the Macedonian newcomers named it Macedonia. Another archeologist, Prof Photis Petsas, gives even a more detailed account: "Macedonia was so named after the Macedonian People in the year 700 BC, who used to inhabit the territory to the west of the Vermion Mountains. What interests us today;" says Prof Petsas, "is that the Macedonians gave their own name to the land, calling it Macedonia, and expanded it in the south to Mount Olympus, in the west to the Pindus Mountain, in the east to the river Nestos (the Mesta) and to the Erigon in the north." (Prof Photis Petsas: Macedonia and the Macedonians..., *Elinikos voras*, 12th February 1978). An interesting fact instead of the region of Macedonia in question speaks of the North of Greece

THE GREEK HISTORIAN, D. KANATSULIS In his History of Macedonia until Constantine the Great published in Salonica in 1964, on page 67 D. Kanatsulis writes that the Dorian and the Macedonian were two different peoples, although both appear on territory of Macedonia at almost the same time. On page 12 of this publication we read: "On the descent of the Illyrians and some other peoples in the 12th and 11th centuries BC, the Dorians were forced to move further south and majority of them settled on the Pelloponnesos whereas the Macedonians stayed in Western Macedonia." D. Kanatsulis emphasizes that the Macedonians had a strong feeling of constituting a separate ethnic group not only during the time of the independent Macedonian state, but also during the Roman era. "The Macedonians," he says, were primarily citizens of the state and only after that members of the municipality where they were born or where they lived. Thus, in the official documents in which all names were entered, the personal name was followed by the nationality - Macedonian, and then came the birthplace or the place of residence, for example: a Macedonian from Aegea, a Macedonian from Edessa, etc
Pred 3 uramiBlack Tengu
